Shrimp Creole (Pantry Style)

Shrimp Creole is a fiery, soul-warming dish rooted in Louisiana tradition. Plump, tender shrimp are simmered in a bold tomato sauce infused with sweet peppers, onions, garlic, and a perfectly balanced kick of Creole spice. Ingredients:

  • 1 cup freeze-dried shrimp
  • 1/3 cup freeze-dried onion
  • 1/4 cup freeze-dried celery
  • 1/3 cup freeze-dried bell pepper
  • 2 cloves freeze-dried garlic
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth (or bouillon + water)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice (white or brown)

Instructions:

  1. Rehydrate shrimp and vegetables in warm water.
  2. In a saucepan, heat oil and sauté rehydrated veggies and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, diced tomatoes, seasoning, and broth. Simmer 10 minutes.
  4. Add shrimp and cook 5 more minutes.
  5. Serve over rice.
